Cole Palmer once slammed by former Man City teammate over his attitude in England row

Cole Palmer was slammed by one of his former Manchester City teammates for his attitude in the summer.

The 21-year-old scored on an impressive first meeting against his former employers on Sunday, converting a cold penalty in the 95th minute to equalise in the enthralling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer played with a point to prove after ending his 15-year stint with City to seal a £40 million deadline move to Chelsea.

He was branded a "traitor" by City fans after scuffing the penalty spot in the first half, an action that resulted in him being shown a yellow card.

Palmer also cheekily tried to earwig when City players were going through a late free-kick routine, with Erling Haaland hilariously sending him flying with a shove.

The England Under 21 international was seen embracing many of his former teammates at the final whistle but a few months back, City left-back Sergio Gomez was critical of Palmer.

The two clashed in the Under 21 Euros final, where England prevailed 1-0 in a feisty affair.

Palmer goaded the Spain bench with his celebration for Curtis Jones' goal and a brawl saw Ashley Cole receive a red card.

And Gomez, who has played 27 times for City, did not like the way Palmer conducted himself.

Speaking in July, Gomez told Cadena Ser: "It surprised me. He didn’t want to apologise or anything like some of his other teammates.

"I don’t know, I would have celebrated it in a different way and my teammates would have done it in a different way as well.

"They [England] have the attitude they want to have. This is not the first time something like this has happened with this team. We have tried to represent our country in the best possible way and have the utmost respect for all our rivals. "They wanted to celebrate it like this and also after the missed penalty."

In interviews with other media, Gomez added that it "has not been a good attitude" from Palmer but did not expect an apology.
