Croatia vs Brazil referee: Who are the match officials for the 2022 World Cup quarter-final?

World Cup favourites Brazil take on Croatia in the first quarter-final of Qatar 2022 on Friday.

Five-time champions Brazil booked their place in the last eight with an emphatic 4-1 victory over South Korea in the round of 16.

Croatia, meanwhile, scraped through after beating Japan 3-1 on penalties after their last 16 match had ended 1-1.

Brazil, unsurprisingly, are strong favourites heading into the game, with Tite's side the bookies' favourites to win the whole tournament.

But Croatia know how to cause an upset, having beaten England on route the 2018 World Cup final, where they eventually lost to France.

Brazil vs Croatia: Who is the referee?

Friday's match at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan will be refereed by English official Michael Oliver.

A former Football League referee, Oliver oversaw his first Premier League match back in 2010 – becoming the youngest-ever official to take charge of a game in England's top flight.

Now a fully established referee in club and international football, Oliver took charge of the UEFA Super Cup match between Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this year.

He has refereed two games so far at the World Cup in Qatar.

Oliver oversaw Costa Rica's 1-0 win over Japan in the group stage of the tournament before taking charge of Mexico’s 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia.
