Roy Keane fumed 'who the f*** buys that?' after David Beckham's most remarkable Man Utd purchase

Roy Keane was left fuming after one of David Beckham's 'fancy' purchases whilst playing for Manchester United.

The pair shared the pitch for ten years between 1993 and 2003 at Old Trafford, playing a key part in the Red Devils' 'golden generation'.

Beckham, who currently owns MLS side Inter Miami, was well known for enjoying the finer things in life, driving flashy cars and wearing designer clothes.

While his teammates were willing to see past the majority of his spending, Keane was left baffled by one particular purchase.

Speaking on Beckham's new Netflix documentary, Keane lifted the lid on his ex teammate's spending.

"He was the first to do it," the Irishman said.

"He certainly upped everyone’s game in the car park, I’ll give him that.

"He bought a fancy pen. I was like ‘who the f*** buys a pen? Who buys an expensive pen?’

"Shirts and clothes and all that I get, but who buys a pen?"

Addressing his lavish purchases, Beckham explained: "I spent my money. I liked nice stuff. As soon as we got money, I wanted to buy a nice watch.

"I signed a contract with Adidas for £50,000 - and I went and bought an M3 for £50,000."

As the publicity around the Englishman continued to grow, former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that Beckham became more difficult to manage.

"He changed. There is no doubt about that," the 81-year-old said.

"That sort of media attention he was getting, becoming a celebrity, was different to what I wanted.

"Getting David to keep his feet on the ground became more different.

"He was a good looking boy and he was well cut, so it was a great attraction for the media."
