Leroy Sane has already hinted which team he would join between Man City and Liverpool

Leroy Sane has already hinted which team he would join between Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, Premier League rivals Manchester City have since arrived on the scene and are interested in resigning the German next summer, according to German news outlet Bild.

And that could have a significant impact on Liverpool's transfer hopes, after Sane previously revealed he chose to join City over the Reds in 2016.

"Yes, I was also talking with them [Liverpool]. Jurgen was calling me too, talking to me. That was before I joined City," Sane told the Guardian in 2018.

"He did a good job at [Borussia] Dortmund – I met him when he was there. He's a good guy, nice guy - honest. He [has] worked well with Liverpool."

That being said, Sane may be less resistant to returning to the Etihad following his comments upon leaving the club in 2020.

Explaining his decision to join Bayern he told Bild (quotes via the Manchester Evening News): “Of course I want to play, but I don’t demand to start every match. No player in the world can play every match and reach his highest level. I have my goals, but I’m zero-point-zero percent against rotation."

However, Pep Guardiola has become well known for rotating his squad, with fans left unable to predict what the spaniard will do next - famously deploying Bernardo Silva as a left-back last season.

Indeed, the 2022/23 treble winning campaign saw the City boss make 45 changes to his starting XI over the course of the season, 31 more than their closest title rivals Arsenal, as per the Premier League website.

As a result, Sane, who has made his thoughts clear on rotation, may think twice about rejoining his former side.

On the other hand, Sane's place on the right-hand flank at Liverpool would look to be secured if Salah moved on.
