Liverpool cult hero is now completely unrecognisable as a manager

A former Liverpool player is now completely unrecognisable as a manager.

The likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Fernando Torres and Michael Owen are all easily recognisable.

However, there are some players who have taken a slight step back from the limelight and look completely different to when they played for the Anfield club.

One of those players is former full-back Andrea Dossena, who earned cult hero status during his time on Merseyside.

Back in July 2008, Liverpool signed Dossena from Italian side Udinese for a reported fee of £7 million.

Although he didn’t set the world alight in his 31 appearances for the club, he did earn a cult hero status thanks to his two goals.

Dossena lobbed Edwin van der Sar after being played through by a Pepe Reina goal kick.

In 2010, Dossena left Liverpool for Napoli and went on to play for the likes of Palermo, Sunderland, Leyton Orient, Chiasso and Piacenza.

Now, at the age of 42, Dossena looks completely different with a full head of hair, having had a shaven look during his Liverpool days.

Since 2019, Dossena has been involved in management as he has taken charge of Crema, Ravenna and Renate.

Currently, he is the manager of Serie C side Pro Vercelli.

“Obviously, the opposition supporters going home in silence is fantastic too, especially as it was against Man U and everyone knows the rivalry between the two teams, but when you score you want to shout and see your supporters jumping. Not many players can say they have scored at Anfield for Liverpool in the Champions League against Real Madrid.”
