Wayne Rooney reveals his ‘Mount Rushmore’ made up of Man United legends

England legend Wayne Rooney has revealed his ‘Mount Rushmore’ made up of Manchester United greats.

Rooney is one of the finest players to ever grace the Premier League, during his time with United, he made 559 appearances, scoring 253 goals.

Whilst he was England’s record goalscorer until Harry Kane eclipsed his tally in March.

After calling time on his playing career, Rooney decided to head into management and is currently the manager of MLS club DC United, having previously managed English club Derby County in the Championship.

Recently, speaking on CBS’s ‘Morning Footy’ show, Rooney gave his opinion on the show’s list of top United greats.

He said: “Yeah I think for me, Sir Alex of course will be on there. I think Cristiano Ronaldo will be on there. And Ryan Giggs would be on there and probably George Best.”

Rooney then stated that ‘so many people that could be on there’.

Speaking about working with legendary boss Ferguson, Rooney said: “I really wanted to play for Alex Ferguson.

“Just the way he worked and how successful he was and of course he had great players throughout the years and its a really historical club…”

He added: “Me being from Liverpool - an Evertonian - I always had an eye on Manchester United purely because of Sir Alex Ferguson. I just loved the way he was and hoped that one day I could play under him, and thankfully I finally managed to do that.”

Rooney’s DC United side have so far struggled to get a proper run together as they currently sit 11th in the Eastern Conference of the MLS.

In their first eight matches, DC United have managed two wins, two draws and four defeats.

Next up for Rooney and his team will be an away trip to Florida as they face Orlando City at the Exploria Stadium on Saturday.
